For centuries governments have had taxation of one form or another. Everyone hates them, but this is the way the government gets money to support the social programs we want to have in our society. Two of the biggest questions have always been what is the best allocation of collecting taxes from the public and then deciding how to spend the collected funds.

For centuries governments have had taxation of one form or another. Everyone hates them, but this is the way the government gets money to support the social programs we want to have in our society. Two of the biggest questions have always been what is the best allocation of collecting taxes from the public and then deciding how to spend the collected funds.

In normal times, the biggest concerns politicians deal with is the best way to collect the tax revenue needed from the contributors and then what the appropriate method is to fairly disburse the pool of funds.

With no surprise is you speak to an individual who does not own of have a significant interest in a corporation, they will want the corporations to carry the burden. If you own a business, you will likely want individuals to carry more.

For many business owners, this is an internal dilemma as they pay taxes both personally as well as corporately. Most often they would rather see individuals carry more burden because of the fact that they feel so heavily taxed as it is and after they make their payroll, employer contributions to the government, property taxes and all else that comprise of all the expenses the average business owner has to deal with on a regular basis, many business owners do not have sufficient funds left over to pay their own personal expenses.

Individuals will often see business owners in the light that if they own a business, they have lots of money and therefore should pay the most in taxes. Some individuals are now seeing that with the current economic conditions for businesses they are not as well off at they once were, but it is still about self-preservation and deflecting they payments away from their already shrinking paychecks.

Then once all the taxes are collected, how are they to be spent? What is important to us? Do we want to help support the ailing auto industry with the pool or let them fall. How about giving more money to AIG? Is it important to continue to spend millions of dollars on peacekeeping efforts in other countries?

So which is it to you? Are you More Concerned with Where the Tax Dollars Come from or Where they go?
