This is a decision most people ponder before they get their first tattoo. The correct answer to this as a question is; something that represents you as a person. Tattoos should represent something of importance in your life. A lot of military personnel get tattoos that stand for their branch of service or their unit number or their unit nickname. Many believe that it is a sign of pride and bravery. As a sign of love it can be the name of your friend, birthdates of children, or a tattoo that represents a special one who have passed away and sometimes a character of a loved one in your life. When tattoos began, they were used to depict the group of people that a specific person belonged to. They were used to illustrate bravery and pride as well. Today, many people are designing their own tattoos for the "exclusive" rendition of their pride, love or bravery. When you decide to get a tattoo, before you decide where to get one, you must first choose the design. It doesn't mean you have to have a specific tattoo picked out, but you must have a good idea of what you want in terms of design. It is not a good idea to have a name tattooed on your body anywhere. There is a saying; "lovers may come and lovers may go but a tattoo is forever!" It may not be as true today as it once was with laser surgery as popular as it is, but tattoos are meant to be permanent. Before deciding what to get, think about the important things in your life and how you represent them. Beginning with a small tattoo is always a good idea because if you don't like what you get, it can always be covered up by another larger one. Seek an advice from a tattoo artist. And a great idea for a first time tattoos. Tattoo artist can help you choose what to get and where. They do this as a livelihood and definitely know that what they are doing in terms of permanent designs. Cartoon characters, movie characters, themed designs and even ethnic tattoos must only be considered for the serious because it takes time to finish and pricey. Tattoos must be something that tells your identity, likes, and your life. In getting your first tattoo, there is no right or wrong about it but your must remind yourself that each tattoo says a story about an event in your life that is significant to you.
