The Thai Journalist Association (TJA) and the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association jointly held a press conference, condemning the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporters for seizing the state-run National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) television channel on Viphavadi Road on Tuesday morning. The associations said the PAD’s seizure of NBT is an outrageous and uncivilised act, and it blatantly threatens the rights and freedom of media. They pointed out that the anti-government group should not intrude into NBT station and cut off its broadcasting signal because it is not only a state agency but a media organisation as well. The protesters have to respect the rights of media members, according to the statement. Members of the media also demanded the PAD followers to stop enclosing the broadcasting vehicles of different television channels in many protesting areas. They said the demonstraters must respect the rights and freedom of media members, as endorsed by the constitution. The TJA together with the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association declared that the PAD’s action is unacceptable. Both associations, however, called on all types of media to present the news and information accurately and to endure in performing their duties, without inciting violence. IN MEANWHILE: PAD has moved out its people and sent them to the govt due to they were unable to break the security codes of the TV station's system and couldn't relay to their own broadcasting site.
