PRIME MINISTER WILL NOT QUIT AS EXPECTED TODAY Instead: "How could I resign? I cannot resign," Samak said. "I will stay on to protect democracy of this country. The whole world is watching us." "I need to uphold the rule of law because we are not a barbaric country," the prime minister added. Samak said he planned to hold a live talk on Radio Thailand to talk to people who plan to join the protests to ask them to have a second thought. He also said to support lenient measures of the military to deal with the protesters who seized the Government House, when he was speaking live on Radio Thailand this morning. Samak urges the public not to join protests and that the Army soon would clear protesters from government house. He also asked the PAD leaders to surrender to defend themselves in court. "I am going to stay in office, and protect democracy," he said. "I am the captain of this boat (Thailand) and I must take all the people on the boat to the end of our voyage." He will go on air again at 2 pm to talk about the current political situation after an emergency cabinet meeting.
